Washington County Sheriff
One person lost their life in a Washington County crash just after noon on Wednesday. Numerous calls came into the Sheriff’s Office reporting a two-vehicle crash on Highway 41 about 5 miles west of Kewaskum near Highway 28.
Deputies from both Washington and Dodge Counties responded along with Allenton Fire and EMS, and were eventually joined by Theresa Fire and Mayville EMS.
Arriving first responders found the driver and sole occupant of a sedan deceased in the vehicle, while occupants of the other vehicle involved, a Dodge County Highway Department work truck towing a trailer, were uninjured. Indications are that the truck had engaged work lights and was preparing to cross a median turn-around when the southbound sedan struck the trailer from behind and then hit the shoulder guardrail.
Southbound lanes of 41 had to be closed at highway 28 for about three hours as emergency crews responded and accident investigators conducted operations.
