Live look at a grateful fanbase:

Free at last, free at last! Now look, we’ve been teased with this before. I think it was two years ago that we first heard rumblings that the Brewers were set to cut ties with FanDuel Sports. And then they signed another contract. Then a year ago there were MORE rumors that they were done with FanDuel. Then another contract.
But yesterday’s official statement from the team feels pretty final. The nightmare is over, and MLB is going to be taking over the production and distribution of Brewers telecasts in 2026!
A few things in no particular order:
- If you just watch the Brewers on FanDuel Sports as a part of a cable subscription, you might not understand how much of a debacle it is to attempt to watch a game on the FanDuel app. I’m not taking it too far at all when I say that whoever (whomever?) is in charge of creating and developing that app should be fired and then thrown directly in jail. It is/was the WORST. 50% of the time I wouldn’t even have the Brewer game as an option to click on, despite the fact that THAT is what I signed up for. I’d open the app at 7pm and only have access to watch New Jersey Devils hockey or something wildly different. And if I did actually get access to the Brewer broadcast? Most of the time the app would crash 15-20 times during the game. And when I tried to relaunch the game? It would start over from the beginning with no option to fast forward, lest you rip a hole in the space time continuum. Fun!
- Now if you do just consume the Brewers on FanDuel as a part of a cable subscription, nothing is changing. They might exist on a different channel number, but at some point there will be something like, “Brewers TV,” that replaces FanDuel as a part of your channel guide.
- If you are someone that (tried) to watch the Brewers exclusively on the FanDuel app? You’re likely going to have to get an MLB.TV subscription. Last season it was $119.99 for the entire season for one team, $139.99 for all teams. In the past if you signed up for an MLB.TV subscription the Brewer games would be blacked out, but that shouldn’t be the case this season with the new distribution.
- Nothing is changing with the people on the telecasts. It will still be BA, Rock, Levering, Sophia, Dillard, Vinny, Coshun, etc.
Anyway, it’s been a LONG and winding road with FanDuel and I am happy that it is now over.
