For those headed out to celebrate the arrival of 2026, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is wishing for your safety and hoping that party guests and hosts alike prepare for safe rides home.
On its social media page, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office was sending the message that by calling a sober friend, using ride share, or calling a taxi, people can help save the lives of their friends who may’ve celebrated just a little too much.
The Sheriff’s Office here is also in the home stretch of the annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign that’s amped up enforcement in order to increase safety this New Year’s holiday.
During last year’s Wisconsin holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Year, there were more than 403 crashes with 9 fatalities and an additional 169 injuries. This time around, city, county and state enforcement personnel hope that this New Year’s Eve won’t contribute to an even greater toll.
