The 2026 budget for the City of Sheboygan is up for review during Monday night’s Common Council meeting at 6 PM at City Hall.
The budget as proposed includes a City tax levy of $30,129,824, which is an increase from the 2025 levy of $747,937, or 2.55%. This results in an anticipated tax rate of $6.2452, compared with the current $6.6226. That represents a reduction of 5.7%.
Two major projects in the budget will lead to most of the increase of debt issuance, those being the construction of the Public Safety Campus for $20,354,400, and the Wastewater Southside Interceptor for $26,000,000, increases of 32.16% and 19.01% respectively.
As proposed, the total 2026 budget amounts to $52.9 million, including $19.3 million in taxes, a 3% increase in collections from 2025.
