A 44-year-old Waupun man hunting in the Fond du Lac County Town of Oakfield had to be rescued on Thursday after falling from his tree stand.
The Sheriff reports getting a call from a family member around 3:45 on Thursday afternoon. The hunter, who was not wearing a tree stand safety harness at the time, fell from 12-14 feet and was knocked out with facial injuries. He called his family after regaining consciousness and relayed his approximate location. The County Communications Center was able to contact him, providing them with his exact location.
Medics from Lifestar Ambulance arrived quickly with Deputies and determined that a helicopter wasn’t needed, and the Oakfield Fire Department’s UTV was used to bring him safely out for transfer to a local hospital for evaluation.
