The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, a nonprofit, conservative law firm based out of Milwaukee, is taking up the case of residents threatened with what’s called a “massive new transmission line” across their properties. The lines would serve a new AI data center being developed just north of the City of Port Washington off I-43.
Tom and Mary Uttech of Saukville are fighting the project that they say would destroy the Uttech family’s scenic landscape which is protected by a conservation easement, and is the inspiration of many paintings created by Mr. Uttech, a nationally-renowned artist.
Uttech and WILL say that if approved, the builder – American Transmission Company, would exercise eminent domain powers to take their land against their wishes.
Founded in Wisconsin in 2011, WILL is now recruited nationwide in defense of high-profile cases, often involving fundamental legal rights that can fall victim to greater powers.
