The combination of farm equipment with regular road traffic led to an accident that hurt two persons on Tuesday evening.
It was just after 6:30 PM when multiple 911 calls reported a crash between a farm tractor and a pickup truck near County Highway W and Sunset Drive, a couple miles southwest of Kewaskum.
Investigators determined that a southbound tractor hauling a corn chopper was struck by a southbound pickup truck from behind. The 64-year-old tractor operator from Campbellsport wasn’t hurt, but two in the pickup truck were injured.
The 16-year-old male driver from Eden was eventually taken to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee for serious injuries, while his 16-year-old male passenger was taken to Fond du Lac for minor injuries.
Inadequate lighting on the farm machinery is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
