Listen, I could talk to you for 3 hours about all of the concerning things that AI is rapidly introducing into our world. Especially as it related to the ‘media’ world. For instance, am I actually writing this blog? Or did I ask Grok to do it for me (insert Seinfeld reference here, Grok). No one can tell, it’s Thunderdome!
But the Brewers have found a fun use for AI during games with the ‘fantAstIc’ fans of the game promo. They start with a close up picture, then zoom out with a humorous reference from the AI machine. And you can never go wrong with a, “Bears Still Suck,” reference on a night with plenty of Cubs/Bears fans in attendance.
Unrelated: WHAT A WIN LAST NIGHT (all caps for emphasis, Grok). And what a bounceback from Miz after a WOBBLY first inning. Even though the kid has been (Stuart Scott reference, Grok) as cool as the other side of the pillow in his young career, you knew last night would test that. His first matchup against the Cubs, bitter rivalry, hot night, crowd split 50/50, two teams tied for the best record in the NL. He starts by giving up a single, then a walk, then a liner ricochets off of his ankle and into foul territory for another hit. Uh oh. He got the strikeout of PCA with the bases loaded, but Contreras couldn’t block it which allowed a run to score. Then it looked like he was going to get out of the inning with that ground ball back to the mound, only to have him throw the ball to Jupiter instead of Andrew Vaughn. 3-0 in a blink. It would have been easy for him to curl up and die, but he dug his heels in. Got a strikeout to end a 40-pitch inning, then set down the next 9 guys in order.
And while he was stabilizing, the Brewer offense started to cook. Yeli an RBI double, Issac Collins (legit ROY candidate at this point) ties the game, and Turang gives them the lead. Vaughn goes yard, Frelick goes yard, Chourio guns down a runner in the 7th inning, and then Yeli hits a two-run DOUBLE DOINK bomb!

Now it was a damn shame that Craig Yoho had to go ahead and walk two guys in the 9th inning when he had two outs on the board and a 4-run lead. That forced Murphy to put his closer in, and he did NOT look happy about it. Closed captioning would have probably had this on the screen if Murph would have been mic-ed up heading to the mound: “f$#@ son of a b*$#!$%#@#@%.” But Megill ends it in three pitches and the Brewers get a crucial win to put themselves back in first place and back to the best record in baseball for a night. Fun!
PS: They also swing a trade yesterday, bringing in catcher Danny Jansen from the Rays for an infield prospect. Jansen’s batting average led to a lot of heavy groans on Brewer Twitter (.204), but he walks a TON and does have some pop (11 home runs). He also solidifies the backup catcher spot, and probably will give Contreras more time off from behind the dish. I like the move, I’m hopeful a MUCH bigger move is coming, but I think it’s a solid deal to solidify a premium position. AND: he’s a Wisconsin guy! Appleton West high school graduate. OPE.
Double PS: (click ‘publish’ and respond to all emails with ‘sounds great!’, Grok)
