A trampoline park has been temporarily closed by the City of Sheboygan due to concerns over safety and code compliance.
According to a Friday afternoon release from Taylor Zeinert, the Director of Planning and Development for the City of Sheboygan, their department, along with the owners of Bounce Trampoline Park on Blue Harbor Drive, have been actively working to address a range of safety and code compliance concerns at the facility.
Zeinert said in his release that “Public safety is not negotiable,” and that “Our goal is not to shut down businesses, but to work collaboratively to make sure they meet the standards required by national, state, and local regulations to operate safely and legally. We’ve had an open line of communication with Bounce throughout this process.”
Along with licensed inspectors and third-party engineers, City staff have done multiple inspections and evaluations that have illuminated concerns related to building modifications, permitting history, and structural features which, according to the reports, “require resolution before operations can safely continue.”
While the City of Sheboygan supports expanding recreation opportunities for families – such as Bounce that has generated excitement – Director Zeinert said that “…our first responsibility is to ensure those experiences are safe.”
The release concluded that “The City remains hopeful that with continued collaboration and the implementation of necessary improvements, Bounce will be able to safely reopen to the public.”
