Data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that June unemployment rates in the County, City and Metro Area of Sheboygan all declined from the May readings.
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development released data on Wednesday that shows the Sheboygan Metro Area workforce increased by 100 compared to May at 64,500. That’s a gain of 400 since June of last year. Once seasonal adjustments are applied, however, numbers look quite different. The June workforce of 63,500 represents a decline of 700 workers month-over-month, but a gain of 900 compared to June of 2024.
Unemployment in the Sheboygan Metropolitan Statistical Area was 2.9 percent in June, down one-tenth from May, and identical to last June’s reading.
The City of Sheboygan also experienced a one-tenth of one percent decline in June at 3.1 percent. That compares with an even 3 percent in 2024.
For Sheboygan County, the June Unemployment Rate came in at 2.9 percent, a decline of one-tenth since May and unchanged over last June’s reading. That matches the rate in the surrounding counties of Manitowoc, Ozaukee and Washington. Fond du Lac County had a 3 percent Unemployment Rate in June, while Calumet County had the second-lowest rate among the state’s 72 counties at 2.5 percent.
