Authorities are investigating a basement fire that broke out Saturday morning near Oostburg. Just after 11:30 AM, emergency crews responded to a home on South Pine Beach Road in the Town of Holland after a 911 call reported a possible firework incident.
When deputies arrived, they found black smoke coming from the basement, followed shortly by visible flames. The home’s only occupant—a man—suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical care.
Multiple fire departments from the area assisted in the response. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
