The names of those involved in a double-fatality head-on accident in Ozaukee County on Monday have been released by the Ozaukee County Sheriff. The collision that resulted in the deaths of two Oosburg residents was the outcome of a wrong-way driver proceeding southward in the northbound lanes of I-43 in the Town of Belgium.
The northbound SUV was being driven by 51-year-old Nicole Horne of Oostburg. She, along with her front-seat passenger, 56-year-old Jay Horne, were both declared deceased at the scene when responders arrived shortly before 1 a.m. Monday. A passenger in the rear seat of that SUV, 22-year-old Alissa Horne, is hospitalized with serious injuries at Froedtert in Milwaukee.
34-year-old Ace Vue of Milwaukee was determined to have entered the northbound lanes of I-43 somewhere north of Jay Road in the Town of Belgium, where 911 callers had spotted him at about 12:37 a.m. Seven minutes later, Vue collided head-on with the Horne SUV. Vue, the sole occupant of his vehicle, remains in critical condition at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
Charges being requested by investigators against Vue include 1st Degree Reckless Homicide, as well as Reckless Driving Causing Great Bodily Harm. Additional charges may be forthcoming pending the full outcome of the investigation.
