A generous portion of Wisconsin’s $18 million share of federal funding from the US Army Corps of Engineers is being targeted toward Sheboygan. $3,805,000 will be spent here, most of that to maintain the North Breakwater, portions of which sustain occasional damage due to the impact of large waves. $5,000 will be used for operations of the harbor.
Sheboygan’s is the second-largest amount out of thirteen projects being funded through the Fiscal Year 2025 work plan. Other spending nearby includes $5,000 each for operations of the Manitowoc and Port Washington Harbors, while the Two Rivers Harbor is getting $12,000.
The largest individual award in Wisconsin, some $4.4 million ($4,339,000), is being steered toward the Fox River which connects Lake Winnebago and Green Bay.
