I’m two weeks into the Eleve MedSpa Vitality Program and I’m pretty happy so far. I’ve already told you how much better I’m sleeping and that I lost two pounds last week. Well, this week I’m still sleeping well, and I lost another 4 pounds so I’m down a total of 6 pounds in two weeks.
I don’t feel as stressed about this as I have when I’ve done other programs. Yes, there are restrictions, but there are also good substitutions and if you mess up it’s okay just pick up again and you’ll be okay. For example, I had my coaching call with Katrina last week and I told her that I did pretty well with my diet, but I was at a conference, and they served sandwiches for lunch, so even though I wasn’t supposed to I ate bread. She kindly said, “You just do the best you can with the options you’re given. One day isn’t going to hurt you.” That was a huge relief. I think that stressing out over having to do everything perfectly would make me want to quit.
I subscribe to a meal kit for my family, and they have a smart meals menu to choose from and some of the meals include couscous or quinoa. I didn’t know if these were things I could have in my low carb plan, so I emailed Katrina, and she got back to me that day with an answer and the data to back it up. The answer to my question was that it’s best to avoid them, but these are better choices than rice, potatoes, and pasta so occasionally it would be okay. I love having the support of a health coach along on my journey to answer these questions that pop up. Next question I have to remember to ask is, “Can I have sushi?” because if the answer is no, I need time to process this devastating news.
Enough about food, let’s talk about my energy levels. I used to hit a wall around 2pm, I would feel tired and would rely on caffeine to get me through the rest of the day. Since I’ve been sleeping better my energy levels have evened out! I’m feeling the same at 2pm as I feel at 10am! I love that for me. I can stay more motivated to get things done and I am more energized for my kids evening activities. I’m sure it’s a combination of the magnesium Dr. Babiarz told me to drink half an hour before bed, exercise, and a healthier diet that contribute to this.
My husband and I were talking the other night about how much better we both feel, and my husband made the comment about how he doesn’t think he is going to be able to avoid carbs long term, but I don’t know that he’ll go back to having carbs with every meal once he takes note of how they make him feel. Everything in moderation, right?
I am excited for my next appointment at Eleve MedSpa where they will measure me to see how my measurements compare after a month on the program and to see if they make any adjustments to my plan. As of right now, I don’t see any reason to make adjustments, but I’m not the expert.
