Those looking for a family-friendly way to welcome in the New Year can head to Plymouth tonight. That’s where the City will hold its own, very unique way of welcoming 2025…with a countdown to the big moment when a 4x4x8-foot wedge of cheese is lowered to the waiting crowds below.
Some of those unique details involve the fact that the cheese would weigh several tons if it were real, and so the iconic item was constructed by a stock car maker from Elkhart Lake, and spray painted by Sartori to create the replica that weighs just 80 pounds.
Those celebrating outdoors can warm up with free hot cocoa around a bonfire, while inside the Plymouth Arts Center there will be live music, cheese tasting and a cash bar.
Another unique detail of Plymouth’s New Year’s Eve celebration – the Big Cheese drops at 10 p.m., leaving enough time to get the kids into bed while the adults toast 2025 at midnight.
