If you’re a Wisconsin resident, but not yet registered to vote in November, today is the deadline to do so by mail or online. WEC Administrator Meagan Wolfe said that “Registering online or by mail is a fast and easy way to make sure you’re ready for November 5th, but time is running out.” She noted that while you can also register at the polls on November 5th, or make an in-person visit to your municipal clerk’s office in advance of the election, those not yet registered who want to do that from home must take action before midnight tonight. You can confirm your status at myvote.wi.gov.
Both the mail-in and online procedures require a Wisconsin driver license or state ID card, plus your correct address must be on file with the Wisconsin DMV. If you don’t currently have an ID, you can begin the process by first filling out the online form, printing that, and then take that in-person to your municipal clerk‘s office with proof of residence…a list of documents approved for proof is available on the Wisconsin Elections Commission website.
