Sheboygan Police had to divert heavy traffic around a busy intersection during the afternoon drive on Monday after intercepting a stolen vehicle. The events around 4 p.m. began when officers, looking for a stolen truck, spotted the vehicle on North Taylor Drive and attempted a stop, which they eventually did at State Highway 23. Roads in that area had to be blocked while officers negotiated with the suspect, according to social media reports with assault weapons drawn
The 35-year-old from the Village of Cascade eventually surrendered without further incident and was taken into custody.
The activity, which included the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, Kohler Police and the Wisconsin State Patrol, caused backups on Highway 23 during the busy evening commute until the situation was resolved.
