Live look at Josh Myers:
‘Puka’? Come on, Yarn gifs. If there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s a piece of content that hasn’t gone through a simple grammer check.
Anyhow, one of the funnier things to come out of Sunday’s INCREDIBLE home opening win was Josh Myers just spraying puke everywhere before a play and snapped a vomit-covered ball back to Malik Willis. First of all: Amazing that Myers stopped puking and a millisecond later was snapping the football and in pass protection. Thinking back to the times I’ve puked in my life, the thought of any movement at all post-puke is….well….nauseating. Let alone playing offensive line at the highest level in the world. So that needs to be acknowledged.
Now I put myself in Malik Willis’ shoes. The man is making a start at quarterback on a team that has playoff/championship aspirations, he just got to the team three weeks ago, doesn’t know the totality of the playbook, and might be fighting for his future self if he can perform well in this spot. “Hut, hut, HIKE” Annnnnnd puke ball. I’m actually impressed he didn’t just instantly puke. Or the other linemen around him. I picture this scene playing out:
Just a game of puke dominoes. So certainly you’d prefer to have the play executed as you envisioned it at practice, but given the circumstances it feels like not instantly fumbling the puke-ball was a win. Solid (?) composure on a day where Malik Willis showed extraordinary poise in a tough circumstance.
PS: Let’s hope Josh didn’t see a streak come to an end:
