If you don’t think I’m taking this as a sign that the current Brewers are about to make a run to the World Series then you are outside of your mind. We’ve got a first place team that is knocking on the door of a #1 or #2 seed in the National League and we’ve got a documentary about the best team in the history of the franchise hitting the big screen in mid-September?? It doesn’t take a Roads Scholar to connect those dots. THE SIGNS!
It does sound like they got all of the heavy hitters for this doc: Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Rollie, Bud Selig and Bob Uecker. I think there are a bunch of other documentaries and other little vignettes that revolve around this team, but it feels like this one is aiming itself at ‘preeminent’ status.
It goes without saying but I say a lot of things that don’t need to be said: I’m in. It debuts at a bunch of Marcus Theatres in Wisconsin (including Sheboygan) on September 13th. Click here for more details and to purchase tickets.
PS: You think they’d go alternate ending for this bad boy? Like instead of having their hearts ripped out in Game 7, Bob McClure comes in the bottom of the 6th inning, gets out of the bases loaded jam and the Brewers win 3-1 for their first World Series title?? Now that would be cinema!
Double PS: I love this Brewer team (the 2024 team). I don’t love that they are now 1-6 against the Dodgers and Phillies, but I still love this team. That said: We need Freddy Peralta to get it together. I’m not going to lose too much sleep over last night, he gave up two 2-run bombs to two MVPs. That happens. But it’s been the run of mediocre (at best) starts that he was on up until last night that concerns me. If this team is going to make a legitimate run, like a deep 1982-esque run, a run that they’ll make a documentary about in 40 years, they need Freddy to be 2021 Freddy. He hasn’t been that for the majority of the season. There’s still time to finish the regular season strong, but if you have me ONE player on this team that needs to level up a few times before October, Freddy Peralta is the guy.
