Men’s 1500 in Paris features an INSANE finish for American Cole Hocker.

So for those that aren’t watching the Olympics, the men’s 1500 has been a YUGE talking point. I can’t tell you how many features and vignettes there have been promoting the battle between the gold medalist in 2021, Jakob Ingebrigtsen:

And the reigning World Champion, Josh Kerr:

For the remainder of this blog they will simply be known as ‘Norway Guy’ and ‘Great Britain Guy.’

But for the way this rivalry was being hyped up, you’d have thought there wasn’t anyone else in this race. They were acting like this was Hulk Hogan versus Macho Man Randy Savage at Wrestlemania V.

Well we finally get to the 1500 final last night, and sure enough, Norway Guy and Great Britian Guy look like they’re going to finish 1-2 as they hit the final stretch.

But, wait, IS THAT COLE HOCKER’S MUSIC?? He just hung around and hung around and hung around until Norway Guy gave up the inside lane and Hocker hit the NITRO and gassed him. He looked like Barry Sanders hitting the turbo button on Madden ’99. Then he was able to shift into overdrive and pass Great Britain guy in the last 20-ish meters. I don’t even think Great Britain guy saw him until it was too late.

Anyway, for all of the juice revolving around the Norway/Great Britain guy rivalry, the American takes down the gold. Only the 4th American ever to win a gold in that event. Let’s all feel good for him and also for a certain blogger who has the over on Team USA gold medals at 41.5 and got an unexpected one here. U-S-A! U-S-A!
