Two persons were taken into custody at two different points along the path of a chase that stretched some 41 miles in two counties on Saturday night. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff reports that events began several miles south of Fond du Lac at around 10:20 p.m. when a driver blew a stop sign at high speed on County B, prompting the first attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver then fled south on Interstate 41 and attempted to exit at Slinger where tire deflation devices were deployed, but avoided, and a PIT maneuver by a Fond du Lac County Deputy was used to stop the car. At that point a passenger fled the scene while the driver regained control and continued southbound on 41.
Washington County Deputies and Germantown Police eventually succeeded in deflating the suspect’s tires but the driver continued on to attempt an exit County Line Road, lost control and became disabled in a ditch. The driver, a 32-year-old Fond du Lac man, was arrested there and charged with felony fleeing and eluding, recklessly endangering safety, and his 2nd charge of THC possession, adding to an already-lengthy criminal history. The passenger, who was arrested at the site of the first stop by a Wisconsin State Trooper, is also a convicted felon and was wanted on a nationwide felony arrest warrant. He was also charged with resisting and obstructing.
