Those looking to enjoy Sheboygan’s Freedom Fest celebration on July 4th won’t have to plug the parking meters. The City says they won’t charge anything to park on downtown streets and in public lots on that day, and Shoreline Metro will operate the Harbor Centre Express between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to shuttle people to and from the lakeshore and downtown locations.
Activities will begin Wednesday, July 3rd with the Levitt Amp Series concert downtown and Venetian Boat Parade on the River, while the July 4th Freedom Fest will entail activities from Fountain Park through the Harbor Centre district and on to the lakeshore at Deland Park. Accommodating all those activities and routing traffic after the fireworks has meant adjusting the traffic flow, prohibiting some parking in select areas and closing some streets. Possession and use of fireworks is illegal in the City, and there are also rules governing fire pits and prohibiting alcohol use and the presence of pets on all City beaches.
