A bill honoring a fallen state trooper has been approved by the U.S. House of Representatives. Congressman Glenn Grothman introduced the bill last September to rename the Kiel Post Office the “Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office Building”. With its passage, the bill now goes to the Senate for final approval.
Trooper Casper, a Kiel native, was fatally shot on March 24, 2015 on his first assignment. He was trying to apprehend a person suspected in a bank robbery and murder. At age 21, Casper is the youngest police officer ever to die in the line of duty in Wisconsin.
