32 Top Scholar Athletes were named on Tuesday by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, and among them was Plymouth High School Senior Owen Plate. The Scholar Athletes, sixteen girls and sixteen boys from St. Croix Falls to Racine, were selected for the honor that’s presented by the WE Energies Foundation and Wisconsin Public Service Foundation from a total of 836 nominees, based upon both athletic and academic achievement, eight honorees for each of the four WIAA Divisions.
Owen Plate of Division-2 Plymouth High School is a kicker on the football team, and is considered the number-1 ranked specialist in the state. He was named All-State kicker 2 years in a row, has averaged around 75 yards per kickoff, and has received interest from both Notre Dame and Wisconsin.
The 2024 WIAA Scholar Athlete Finalists will be recognized at an awards ceremony at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 5th at SentryWorld in Sevens Point, which will be available statewide across ABC affiliates.
