One of my favorite blogs every single year: The Masters Champions Dinner Menu!
For those that don’t know the tradition: The previous year’s Masters champion puts together a personalized menu for the following year’s dinner. Then all of the previous champions get together and eat expensive foods and drink expensive wines and scotches until their hearts are content. Steeped in tradition and relatable to the common man!
Anway, for those that forgot, Jon Rahm (RAHHHHHHHMMMMMM) was last year’s Masters champion. And a certain blogger/podcaster with a loose interpretation of grammar bet on him to win at +1300 (entertainment points).
Rahm is of Spanish decent, but from the Basque region. Which probably explains the total abscence of paella on this menu.
I love that he leaned into the ‘tapas’ culture in Spain, doling out not one, not two, but SIX different small plates. They all sound delightful, but you just know that ‘Mama Rahm’s’ classic lentil stew absolutely RIPS.
Main course lines up a ribeye or white fish, and the dessert of puff pastry sounds like it would get a handshake from Paul Hollywood.
Sidenote: Spanish food gets slept on in America. In terms of the international food scene, I feel like Mexican food, Italian food, even Chinese food get all of the headlines. Meanwhile Spanish food just quietly puts out elite dish after elite dish with very little fanfare. It’s like an All Pro left tackle in the NFL. Doesn’t get the headlines but does the job every single time.
Semi-related: We are riding with Rory this year. +1000, second best odds to win behind Scotty Scheffler who is an ABSURD +400 favorite. Also placed a smaller wager on Tiger to make the cut at -110. Let’s ride!
PS: My mother made all this paella!
