A new Chief has taken command of the City of Plymouth Police Department. The City announced the appointment to that post of Kenneth Ruggles, a 28-year veteran of law enforcement, who leaves his position as the Plainfield, Illinois Police Department Commander of Administration, a job he has held since 2020.
Ruggles was selected from a field of over 30 applicants following a national recruitment process by the Plymouth Police and Fire Commission. He was ultimately selected after the original field was reduced to four candidates. Mayor Don Pohlman said “I welcome Ken to our wonderful community. The Common Council and I look forward to having him as our new Chief of Police.”
Ruggles stated that “I would like to thank the City of Plymouth and the Police and Fire Commission for this opportunity. My wife and I are excited to join the Plymouth Community.”
Ruggles will start with the City of Plymouth on May 15, 2023.
