I can’t properly express to you my joy that this TV station found and used the clip of Corey trying to start a student union in season 2 of Boy Meets World. It’s the first thing I thought of when I read the article that Ben Savage aka Cory Matthews aka Don Francisco is running for a Congressional seat in California. The problem is that that episode of Boy Meets World is more than 30 years old*, and as such, is difficult to find clips of on the internet. Credit to you Channel 7, you made my day and the day of potentially tens of other people reading the words that I’m typing right now. Not all heroes wear capes!
Now I have no idea what Ben Savage’s political leanings are nor do I intend to find out. The less I know about my favorite actor/musician/athlete’s politics the better. In my brain Cory is running for Congress with Shawn as his campaign manager and Harley Kiner his head of security. His platform is, ‘They Want You To Take the Rolls’ and nobody has any idea what that means other than it’s provocative and gets the people going.
Obviously his brother Eric is his director of morale, Topanga hones in on the real issues, and Mr. Feeny is there to guide him with clever advice that’s wrapped in a riddle which Corey will spend most of the episode slowly figuring out and everyone will be enriched in the end when a greater lesson is realized. Scene.
PS: Fun fact: One of our listeners, Erin, went to some kind of TV/Film fan fest a few years back and Topanga was in attendance. Because I have proclaimed many times on the air that Topanga was one of my first childhood crushes, she had her sign this for me:

I have insured this collectible at Lloyd’s of London.
