The Washington County Sheriff had more to handle than just a car off the road during Wednesday’s snowstorm. Deputies responded to one of some 80 traffic-related calls at around 9:30 p.m. when a driver left Highway 45 near Western Avenue south of West Bend. When the strong odor of burnt marijuana was noticed coming from the vehicle a search ensued, revealing the source – and more.
The 27-year-old driver from Milwaukee was found to have nearly a pound and a half of pot, along with cocaine, multiple phones, a scale, and a large amount of cash in his possession. The man was already on felony parole for firearms and drug charges, and was arrested for more of the same. His criminal history includes arrests and convictions for felon in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm into a vehicle and building, and possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
He did get his car out of the ditch, but will now have a more difficult time getting out of the Washington County Jail.
