There are power moves, and then there are POWER MOVES. This is a POWER MOVE. ‘Hey honey, what do you think we should do for music at our wedding? Band? DJ?’ ‘Don’t worry sweat heart, I’ve already got it covered.’ Boom. O’Reilly Auto Parts jingle band at your wedding performing their famous 30 second radio ad over and over and over again. Not a single person can have a gripe with that. Adults, younger kids, Nana and Peepaw, there isn’t a human being on the planet that wouldn’t smile seeing that jingle performed live. 10/10, would recommend.
That said, it’s time once again for one of my infamous power rankings. Power ranking the catchiest radio/TV commercial jingle songs of all time:
5) Pepto Bismal “Nausea, Heartburn, Indigestion, Diarrhea.”
Certified banger. Going for the higher notes on the end of the ‘diarrhea’ lyric is inspired.
4) Empire Today “800-588-2300 Empire.”
Honest to God I have no idea what Empire even does. Flooring? Floor cleaning? Not sure. But I sure as hell know their phone number.
3) Ace Hardware “Ace is the place for the helpful hardware man/folks.”
I can’t explain why, but this radio jingle/song makes me feel like if I go to Ace, I can fix any problem in my house, despite the fact that I 1,000% cannot.
2) O’ Reilly Auto Parts “O, O, O, O Reeeiillllyyyyyy.”
If I’m honest, the live jingle didn’t sound as crisp as the studio version. But that’s to be expected. You think Bon Jovi can rip “Living On a Prayer” in a live setting and make it sound as good as it does on the album? Of course he can, he’s Bon Jovi. But the O’Reilly Auto Parts jingle band ain’t Bon Jovi. Still a certified earworm hit.
1) 1-877-Kars4Kids
This one might more of a regional thing, but file this jingle/song under the ‘so bad it’s good’ category. If you haven’t clicked play already, I must warn you, it will be stuck in your head for the remainder of the week. You’ll be humming it in the shower, at work, on your drive home, it will be become inescapable. It is time itself. If you did click play before reading this, may God have mercy on your soul.
So there it is. Now obviously there’s the Toys R Us jingle, the Kit Kat jingle, the Liberty Mutual jingle, Folgers “Best Part of Waking Up,” etc. But as with my power rankings of movie theater candy and bottled water, this is my list. If you want to write your own list on your own blog, feel free. But good luck finding space on the internet.
PS: Not a jingle, but I always thought the Crossfire song was FIRE:
JAM.
