SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) – There’s a call for the public to show up at Tuesday night’s board meeting of the Sheboygan Area School district after “pornographic images” were found in books at the South High Library.
A press release sent from the group “Sheboygan County For Freedoms” includes images of teens engaging in various sex acts that were found in these books at the South High library last week. The school board meeting is tonight at 6 at the District Headquarters on Stahl Road.
The text of the Press release:
On 1/20/22 myself and another concerned citizen went to South High school to check out some books that we were told were in the library that contained pornographic content.
Upon reviewing several books with the South High principal, we found several books that should NOT be in any school in our district. Two of the five unacceptable books found contained graphic images, in comic book form listed under “Graphic Novels”. These were “Gender Queer”‘and “Fun Home”. I will warn you that the images attached in this email (even though they are blurred) are extremely graphic. The other three books contained lewd language and descriptions of mature sex acts, but without the pictures.
I have sent emails to 3 school board members who are all extremely concerned about what we found. One of those board members went to South High that day to verify for themself what we found in those books. That board member was allowed into the school only to be told by the principal that the librarian took the books home with her.
In order for that board member to see the books they would have to make an appointment for Monday to view them. I
I am asking all of you to email the superintendent and the school board to demand that they remove any books like these from ALL schools in the district.
There is also a school board meeting on 1/24/23 starting at 6pm at the district headquarters at 3330 Stahl Road, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I would encourage you to attend and speak to the board to demand the removal of all of these books.
