A few things in no particular order:
- I’ve been to MANY different grocery stores in Wisconsin and all of them have at least one whole side of a frozen food section dedicated to frozen pizza. But I’ve never seen anything like this. The comment section seems to think this is filmed at a Woodman’s, which I’ve only been to a few times in my life. But I feel like I need to get to one soon and see this spectacle for myself. It is breathtaking. I felt like I needed a cigarette after watching this.
- I have not been to many grocery stores outside of Wisconsin and even if I have I never thought to take inventory of their frozen pizza selection. Is this a Wisconsin thing? I know Wisconsin is known for a lot of food/drink related things. Brats, cheese curds, brandy old fashioneds, hypertension etc. But I never thought an extensive selection of frozen pizzas at grocery stores was a staple until this video.
Anyway, this video did spark on conversation on the text line about what your go-to frozen pizza is. This was the pizza that got the most mention on the text line:
Solid pizza, no doubt. My one gripe with this pie is that it costs about $10 a pop. If I’m paying $10 for a pizza* I may as well order one, you know? Here are my top 3:
3. Red Baron 4-Cheese
Crisp crust and a BUNCH of cheese. This is also a top pizza to ‘doctor.’ Throw some bacon on there, cut up a leftover brat, some tomato or green pepper, delightful.
2) Home Run Inn
95 mph fast ball. Crust crisps up nice, good cheese and a nice amount of sausage. I hate frozen pizza that skimps on sausage. I’ve always said I need a healthy amount of sausage and this pizza brings it.
1) Connie’s
Great flavor like all of the others, but the amount of cheese and the crust is what separates this one from every other pie on the market. The crust is a 10/10. You don’t want the crust on your frozen pizza to taste like the carboard that it’s sitting on. This crust has some crisp, has some bite, a little cornmeal on there as well. Connie’s, the only frozen pizza for Strange Brew. Just $6.99 at your local grocer’s freezer. Use promo code, ‘JON,’ and get 2 pizzas for $12.98!
*I think my biggest gripe with frozen pizzas right now is that they do cost more than a Little Caesar’s Hot N’ Ready. I realize things get more expensive as the years go by, but I remember in college buying 5 Orv’s pizzas for like $6 at K-Mart.
PS: My dad bought me one of these bad boys when I moved into a house off campus my junior year at Point:
97% of our meals were made using this device. And it wasn’t cleaned once. By the end of our two years at that house the Pizzazz looked like it had been through a war. Charred on crust and cheese, the tray was bent, caked on grease on the control panel. But it survived. 10/10 durability rating.
