Sam and Remi Fargo decide to take a much needed vacation. Remi decides to grab a gift for Sam and pops into a bookstore owned by the uncle of one of her Fargo Foundation employees when her visit is disrupted by an armed robber. While Remi is able to escape unharmed the store owner wasn’t as lucky.
Sam and Remi quickly learn that it is their copy of the book from the bookstore millionaire, Charles Avery, is after. The key in the book is what Avery needs to find an 800 year old treasure. As always Sam and Remi must find it first so the treasure and the history isn’t lost forever.
I’m not sure what is is about chapter 31, but this book like the last has a hiccup there. In this book they refer to a car accident that I and many other readers can’t remember. I actually had to go skim through reviews to see if anyone else had noticed it or if I was just losing my mind. Lots had. Besides that I have to say this book is just okay. The puzzles weren’t nearly as intriguing as previous ones. The story was a bit predictable and not nearly as suspenseful as the books that came before. They never even face off with the man they are working against just his goons.
Certainly after “The Solomon Curse” this book was a bit of a let down. It’s a quick and easy read, but if you skipped this one you wouldn’t miss anything for future books to make sense. I’ll give this one a 2.5/5.
I’ll review the next book “The Romanov Ransom” in a couple of weeks. I know it has to be better than “Pirate.”
