It is official, I am now Helen Seinfeld as it relates to Giannis:
He’s the best. I think I’ve pushed this book before, but the movie about Giannis that just came out, “RISE,” is based at least partially on this book:
Even if you’re not a basketball fan it’s an incredible read just because you learn so much about his background and his struggles growing up in Greece. It also helps you understand why he’s so humble and down to earth. He didn’t grow up in the AAU culture that a lot of young superstars do in America. That’s not to say that those superstars aren’t working hard as well, but reading about his growth and development certainly gives you WAY more insight into why he is relentless when it comes to basketball and crafting his game.
Anyway, I haven’t seen the movie yet but my official pre-review is a 10/10. Feels like something I’ll be knocking out this weekend when I should be doing something more productive.
PS: 1 year ago today was Game 4 of the ECF. Bucks get their doors blown off by a Hawks team that didn’t have Trae Young, AND, this happens:
Not Andrew Bogut arm level, but close. I was literally sick to my stomach when that happened. Couldn’t talk, couldn’t think, couldn’t fathom how that could happen. ‘That’s it.’ That was the thinking. We’re cursed. It was all there and now it’s gone. Watching that back it’s still impossible to believe he was back and playing at an MVP level in the NBA Finals 7 days later. SEVEN DAYS.
