A single vote margin from Tuesday’s election will likely be challenged through a recount.
Preliminary results for the position of Alderperson in Sheboygan’s District 10 have challenger Joseph Heidemann defeating incumbent Andre Walton by a single vote, 403-402.
WHBL News contacted Alderperson Walton by email Wednesday morning concerning that outcome and Walton responded that he had no immediate reaction to offer. As to the question of a recount, Walton responded “We will be looking to seek a recount.”
Wisconsin law allows a recount when a margin of 40 votes or less exists among a total vote of 4,000 or fewer. The state would pay for the recount as the margin is under 10 votes.
Walton indicated that he would await the release of official results before acting. The Municipal Board of Canvassers for the City of Sheboygan will conduct their review beginning at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
