Although displaying the highest single-day gain in confirmed cases of COVID-19 for the current week, the pace of recoveries displayed on the County DHS’s Coronavirus Case Dashboard dominated trends to reduce active cases by 171. With that, a clear downhill trend is shown in the active case count so far this month, with the Omicron peak reached between January 25 and 27. Since then active cases in Sheboygan County have dropped nearly by half, from 5,214 to the current 2,718.There were 105 confirmed positives balanced against 273 recoveries since Thursday.
With one more hospital admission, the total number of county residents requiring hospitalization rose to 1,158. Current hospitalizations remained unchanged at 11 patients.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County is declining steadily, but remains “High”. On Friday there was a 7-day case rate fo 373.68 per 100,000 persons, down 10.4 points since Thursday. The percent of tests coming back positive for the coronavirus dropped from 17.89% on Thursday to 17.0% on Friday.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services advised that it was having technical issues in updating the COVID-19 vaccine data. The last update was on Wednesday, February 9th. The DHS hopes to have the problem fixed by Monday.
