The U.S. Women’s 3-on-3 Basketball team won Olympic Gold this past week in Tokyo, but an even larger-scale tournament is set to take place in Sheboygan this weekend. The Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is set for Saturday and Sunday at the Harbor Centre Marina on Sheboygan’s Lake Michigan shoreline. The 26th such event will kick off with a Special Olympics event at 5 this Friday evening, and the following two-day tournament will see players of all ages and abilities compete. This year’s “Macker” is being planned by Launch: Lakeland Student-Run Businesses.
Ali Wilson is the Lakeland Launch Event Planner, and she said she’s excited that this year’s tournament is the only Gus Macker event in Wisconsin this year, and one of the first events back since COVID hit over 15 months ago.
Besides the 216 teams that are expected to play this weekend, a slam-dunk contest will also take place, and there’ll be food on-site provided by Lakeland’s Dining Services.
