SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Six more county residents lost their battle with COVID-19 as reported Wednesday by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. Two of those persons were in their 70s, and four were 80 or older. With those, the death toll in Sheboygan County rose to 72. Of 173 test returns received, 44 – or 25.4% – were positive. The 7-day average of new daily confirmed cases in the county is now 76 per 100,000 population, and the new daily confirmed case average for the last 7 days is 87.57. 179 persons recovered since Tuesday, and the active case count dropped 141 to 1,811, the lowest since October 30th. 21 persons, two fewer than Tuesday, are hospitalized in the county.
In Wisconsin, 3,619 of 11,726 tests returned were positive, a 30.8% rate. The 81 deaths recorded on Wednesday raises the toll to 3,887 Wisconsinites. 215 persons were hospitalized since Tuesday, putting the patient population at 1,535…21 less than on Tuesday after accounting for discharges and deaths. 326 of those patients are in the ICU. 574 patients are on ventilators, and 8 patients are being cared for in the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis.
