ELKHART LAKE, WI (WHBL) – Road racing fans may soon be able to show their pride for Road America in Elkhart Lake. That organization has applied to become an Authorized Special Group with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, making Road America automobile license plates available.
Road America has already submitted a $15,500 application fee and the signatures of 500 Wisconsin residents who intend to purchase the special plate once the application is approved. A comment period is now open to receive any objections, and those must be filed by December 17th. If any are received, then the request must be sent to the Transportation Committee for review in both houses of the legislature for consideration.
If approved, then a plate with the Road America logo on the left, and the name along the bottom of the plate, will be ready for the road.
