(WHBL) – While there may not be much agreement between the two major political parties during an election year, one point of common ground is the need to safeguard voters and their ballots. And so Wisconsin’s current and former Attorneys General, Democrat Josh Kaul and Republican J.B. Van Hollen have stepped into the roles of co-chairs of the VoteSafe Wisconsin coalition.
In announcing their effort, Kaul said that “We must not let the pandemic stand in the way of fair elections,” and that “Every eligible Wisconsin voter who wants to cast a ballot should be able to do so – safely.”
Van Hollen echoed those points, saying that VoteSafe Wisconsin will fight to ensure that all eligible voters have safe and secure choices in exercising their voting rights.
The coalition intends to make sure voters have ballot access in ways both sides of the aisle can agree on – accessible, secure absentee voting and safe, in-person voting sites.
Other members of the coalition include former Governor Scott McCallum, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, former Congressman Tom Petri, former Congressman Reid Ribble and State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski,.
