A few weeks back we had Guacamole Doritos, last week it was Ben & Jerry's potato chip/fudge ice cream combo, and now: Pop Tart ice cream bars. I'm telling you, one of the legacies of this quarantine is going to be the innovations in the snacking game. If you look at any difficult time in the history of the world, it has had a direct impact on a creative world. The Vietnam War timeline and Rock & Roll music's ascension went together, The Great Depression led to some of the greatest photography we've ever seen, and loose FCC rules/crumbling ethics allowed for the WWF Attitude Era. Similarly, we may look back at this time period and find a small silver lining in the types of comfort food/snacks that were created.
Now I'll admit, I probably haven't been a big 'ice cream bar' guy since I was a kid. But I am a big Pop Tart guy, and in particular, the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts. AKA, the only Pop Tart that matters. So sprinkle some of that flavor on an ice cream bar and it gets a big time green light from me. The longer this period of distancing continues, the more I'm going to look like Ben Stiller's character in Dodgeball:
Day/Month/Quarter.
PS: While I haven't been as into ice cream bars as an adult, as a kid I was all over those things. Push Pops, Strawberry Crunch Bar, Rocket Pops, you name it, I had it. But to me these were the GOAT:
The Double Stick Fudgesicle. Why did it have two sticks? I think they intended it to be split apart, but it just made it feel like I was getting double dessert. But a good fudgesicle was always a home run. Simple, to the point.
Double PS: These tasted like garbage but I loved them for the wrasslin' component:
