Really sad news yesterday, John Prine passed away due to complications from Coronavirus. I think the news broke that he had tested positive for it on the same day that Joe Diffie passed away from COVID, but it seemed like he was in stable (but serious) condition for about a week or more. It gave a little hope that he might pull out of it. Unfortunately news broke last night that he had succumbed to that, along with double pneumonia.
If you don't know who John Prine is, do yourself a favor and start to work your way through his catalog while you maybe have some time in quarantine. The man is one of the greatest song writers of all time. He was a poet. I think he is technically classified as 'country-folk,' and I'm honestly not sure how much run he got on country radio in his heyday, but regardless of format I'd just classify his music as 'great.' He's a little country, a little Bob Dylan, his songs will make you laugh and cry from one to the next. By today's standards I think he's be thrown in the 'Americana' category with guys like Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell.
In any case, click on the above song/video and jump into the rabbit hole. You will not regret it.
PS: I have no 'PS' here but I don't think I've ever done a blog without a, 'PS.'
Double PS: ^I'm nothing if not routine oriented. Be more German, Jon, you can't.
