Long time readers of this blog (hey Mom) will remember that one of the hallmarks of the early years was my Microsoft Paint abilities. I'm the Bob Ross of Paint. Well, as the years go by, and you move in different directions creatively, we moved away from incorporating that as a regular feature.
Well with a lot of the world in quarantine, I figured what better time to dust off those skills for the people killing time on the toilet at home, hiding from their kids! Live look at me when I started this endeavor:
Anyway, the actual content revolving around the story will take far less time than the above creation:
The Packers inked Devin Funchess to a contract last night. Terms of the deal were not announced, but my guess is this is another 'low risk, high reward,' situation.
Funchess fits the Packer WR profile, he's big (6'4, 225), not that quick, and has occasional cases of the dropsies. Ahhhh, I kid! I kid!
Honestly don't dislike this move at all. Funchess spent his first 4 seasons in Carolina after the Panthers made him a 2nd round pick in 2015 out of Michigan. He had decent years there, the highlight being his 2017, where he caught 63 balls for 840 yards and 8 touchdowns. He signed in Indy last season (1 year, 10 million), broke his clavicle in week 1 and never returned.
But to me, he provides an experienced wide receiver, that gives you some reliable depth. Adams is obviously your #1, and at the moment, Lazard and Funchess are some sort of 2/3 combo. This doesn't move the needle like a trade for OBJ would, but it gives you something to fall back on as you wait to see how the draft plays out. This move kind of reminds me of a James Jones-style move. If he's healthy all year, teaming up with Rodgers should give him a shot to catch 50-60 passes for 700-800 yards and 4-6 touchdowns. Nothing wrong with that.
PS: That Microsoft Paint effort legitimately took about 15 minutes and my hand cramped up 3 times. Some might call me an internet blogging hero, I'm not here to make those designations, but if that's what people are saying, that's what they're saying.
