Long time readers of this blog (my dog and mom) will remember that an early hallmark of Strange Brew was the utilization of Microsoft Paint to create unique images as well as photoshopped images. Well, with all things, as time goes by you move in different directions (rolling the dice using images with a copyright) and sometimes elements that you relied on early move past their expiration date. Well I hope the above picture serves notice that, while I don't utilize Paint as much as I once did, I've still got the necessary skill to create seamless images as original content for the blog.
Anyway, according to
this random internet poll
, my favorite candy of all time, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, sit atop the Halloween candy Iron Throne! YES! YES! YES! Second place belongs to Snickers, while Pumpkin Spice White Claw finished in 3rd place.
Related: Our former afternoon host on B93, Jess Kelley, was also a peanut butter cup enthusiast. She also claimed that she could eat the peanut butter from a Reese's peanut butter cup all on it's own. As in slathering that specific type of peanut butter in the middle of two pieces of bread to make a peanut butter sandwich.
Now I love Reese's more than almost anyone, but that peanut butter on it's own is NASTY. It's the combo with the chocolate that makes it good. We had a bet that she couldn't make it through an entire peanut butter sandwich made with Reese's Peanut Butter Cup peanut butter without throwing up. I stand by my contention that she couldn't, but the bet hit a snag when I came to the realization that I'd have to scrape the chocolate off of about 15 peanut butter cups to pare it down to just the peanut butter to be used on said sandwich. That's 14 minutes I could have spent doing something better with my life (I didn't).
PS: Most years we do a blog on the candy maps that show everyone's favorite candy by state. There are so many of those maps now, it's hard to just pick one. But this one that came out a few weeks ago made me legitimately laugh out loud:
Wisconsin coming it hot with Kraft Cheese slices as a favorite movie candy!
Double PS: I forget why I created this map but I think it had something to do with a Halloween candy map a few years back. Might be my lasting legacy in 13 years at the station:
