It seems like I always wanted to be on the radio. Growing up my cousins and I would sit around a tape recorder and put on our own shows. Then later when I got a "Mr. Microphone" for Christmas, I spliced onto it's antenna an even longer wire which boosted the signal and I went on the air for the first time from my bedroom. The range wasn't very far. Only up the street but that's probably a good thing since it was illegal and could've gotten busted by the FCC for it. In my early teens I was interviewed at my county fair for a 4H exhibit which I had entered. The audio of that is on a cassette tape in my bedroom closet. After serving 3 years in the army I went to Brown College in Minneapolis for radio/television broadcasting and the rest is history.
While growing up I also built a life-size replica Viper fighter from Battlestar Galactica. I'm still waiting to live that dream of flying through space fighting Cylons. Hey, I'm ready and have the tattoo to prove it!
