Sheboygan County sees a population drop since 2010

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan County lost slightly more than the population of Waldo between 2010 and 2013.  The U.S. Census Bureau released their most recent population estimates this week.  Sheboygan County’ population dropped 0.4 percent to just under 115,000 people.

Census data shows the cause is due to people moving out of the county.  Their estimate found the county’s migration rate, which was a loss of 1,500 people; nearly double that of what the county’s birth/death rate of a gain of 847, for a net loss of 585 people.

Sheboygan County was one of 40 counties to lose people in this time period, most in rural portions of the state.  Still, Wisconsin saw a population growth estimated at 55,730 people.
