Brewers 8, Twins 5

by

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WHBL) - Wily Peralta ended a five-game winless streak, as the Brewers slugged their way to an 8-5 victory at Minnesota Thursday night.  Peralta gave up a grand slam to Oswaldo Arcia.  But the Brewers' offense gave their starter plenty of support as Carlos Gomez hit a three-run homer, and Khris Davis and Jonathan Lucroy each had two-run shots.  Lucroy's homer was his 500th career hit.  Arcia's first career grand slam put Milwaukee down 4-0 in the third inning, but the Crew jumped in front for good in the sixth on the Davis homer and Jean Segura's R-B-I single.  Peralta went five innings, giving up four runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts.  He's now 5-5.  Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth for his 18th save.  Kevin Correia took the loss, giving up five runs on 10 hits in five frames.  He fell to 2-7.  Ryan Braun had three hits and scored twice, as the Brewers split their four-game home-and-home set with the Twins and improved to 9-4 in Interleague play this season.  Arcia went 2 for 4 before leaving in the sixth with a sprained right ankle.  The Brewers extended their National League Central Division lead to five games over second-place Saint Louis and will open a weekend series at Pittsburgh tonight.  Brewers' right-hander Kyle Lohse will start against Pirates' right-hander Brandon Cumpton.  Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 5:30.
