SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The Sheboygan County Veterans Memorial is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a variety of events around their location on Wilgus Avenue from now through Sunday.
Memorial committee member Allen Nohl says one attraction on site is “The Wall That Heals”, the traveling version of the Vietnam War Memorial, which includes its own portable museum. Also on site is a casket caisson unit used at Arlington and the “Wall That Remembers”, recounting the events of September 11, 2001 and the resulting wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Starting Friday at noon, a Huey helicopter that flew during the Vietnam War will also be on display. Nohl says people can fly in it if they pay $100 to join an organization to preserve it.
The memorial itself will be rededicated during a ceremony on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. The nearby Sheboygan County History Museum also has special displays in place in honor of the memorial’s anniversary.
