Packers 2012 draft class is dwindling

(WNFL)- The Green Bay Packers are holding another public Training Camp practice today, as they get ready for Exhibition Game Number-Two on Saturday at Saint Louis. The Packers have had to sign some reinforcements -- including Chicago free agent Julius Peppers -- as the crop of six defensive players from the 2012 draft keeps dwindling. With defensive lineman Jerel Worthy heading to New England in a trade, the Packers are left with just three players from that 2012 group. Corner Casey Hayward remains the best of the bunch, even after missing much of last season with a bad hamstring. He led the Packers with six interceptions as a rookie. Defensive end Mike Daniels also turned out to be a solid performer, and has become the unit's verbal leader. Green Bay drafted linebacker Nick Perry with its first-round pick in 2012, but the jury's still out on that one. He has only played a dozen games in two years due to injuries -- and while he's shown occasional flashes of brilliance, Perry has just six sacks to his NFL name, along with three forced fumbles. Two other defenders in the Packers' '12 draft are now with other teams. Safety Jerron McMillian is with Kansas City. Linebacker Terrell Manning is with the New York Giants.
