SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - American Orthodontics has purchased the former Thomas Industries property on Washington Avenue, a company spokesperson said Monday afternoon. Mayor Bob Ryan says the building - sitting vacant at one of the busiest intersections in Sheboygan - was definitely a negative image for the city, and is thrilled about the move. Ryan says he’s thrilled that American Orthodontics has the confidence and faith in the citizens in our city to invest in our community through this major expansion project and look forward to having them as a prominent employer and local corporate partner in the city of Sheboygan for many years to come. American Orthodontics will remodel the facility over the next few months and is expected to move to the new location later this year. The building has been vacant since April of 2010 when Thomas Industries completed its move to Louisiana, leaving about 200 people without jobs.
