Sheboygan, Wis (WHBL) The Sheboygan Area School District is continuing discussions with Aurora in the hopes of heading off a fee for using the North and South High School Fitness Centers. Board members got an update during their meeting last night. The issue is currently in the hands of the Recreation Citizen Advisory Committee which will make a recommendation to the School Board after meeting with representatives of Aurora about a possible sponsorship which would underwrite maintenance costs for the centers. Those costs average about $35,000 per year and the board will have to decide whether to charge a fee or increase the tax rate by a nickel, if Aurora doesn’t work out. The board is considering a $30 annual fee for residents, $25 for seniors, or a $2 daily fee for using the facilities. If a fee is established, it wouldn’t happen until this fall.
